About

Reg, Lisa & Cody...> > Reg...>
Reg "TRex" Mathusz has been working in Hospital I.T. for approximately 20 years.
This included everything from call center, supporting desktops and printers to 24/7 clinical application support.
More noteably I worked as a specialist in Software development, HL7 interfaces and ETL - I now specialize in "big data" from supporting (preferably retiring) HADOOP Clusters to now building and migrating hospital systems into the Cloud.

I have some HL7/interface software utilties that I wrote that I hope to re-release. My previous site "reg7 software" offered it freely until the site was hacked and I took it offline.

I also have a huge interest is firearms. I am an NRA Certified Instructor and a former Glock-certified Armorer. I currently run the "remat457 firearms blog" which focuses on firearms-related events and supporting fellow instructors. I traditionally attend SHOT Show. Please feel free to check out my blog, although in this year of COVID it hasn't been updated as much as it should.

My other hobby (I can't afford too many) is motorcycles. A friend (thanks Dave!) gave me my first bike a 1986 Kawasaka 454LTD (aka 450EN). It didn't run, but I learned a lot getting it back in shape to ride. In fact, I hope to never clean a carb again! After that I wanted a Harley Davidson Road King but for some reason they were like gold at the time (over MSRP!) and got a BMW F800GT "light cruiser." This was a fun bike but definitely light in the cruiser part and I kept putting in upgrades trying to make it a tourer. So, I traded it in for a 2012 Road King which is my current bike. I guess I like what I like.

Lisa is my fiancee and we hope to be able to set a date once weddings are allowed again and the existing backlog (gasp) is worked through.
