Vegas 2021!
First trip of the year and Vegas went to 50% capacity in March!
We spent a week there over Easter and Spring Break. It was BUSY - a ton of people and a lot more kids than we expected. We saw many people get kicked out of the casinos for trying to gamble with them either in tow or watching over their shoulder. There was even a lady with a baby in a stroller - it was about 2am.
It seemed like Circus Circus and NYNY were the hotspots for kids since they offered some attractions.
There were issues getting Uber and Lyft rides. Everyone said that there were severe driver shortages. We waited up to an hour once, and almost worse we were "rejected" (ok, they called it cancelled) by our Lyft driver. They said that paying the "premium" extra ($5-10) guaranteed that you got a driver -- it does NOT. Taxis were more reliable and only a little more. Get the Curb app.
Fremont (old town) was packed and there were several checkpoints (metal detectors) on the main road! That reminds me, there was a metal detector at the Neon Museum too. Make sure you have a ride, apparently it's kind of a sketchy part of town.
In order to get to Lake Mead for a boat tour we rented a car. The folks at the NYNY Avis counter are amazing! Driving in town is a nightmare but outside was a lot of fun. Camrys are not very peppy even with the 2.0 liter turbo. Don't buy one. We should have got a lamborghini lol.
Restaurants were also a wait - clearly the city was not ready to be at such as a busy capacity -if you go make sure you make reservations in advance. We walked past Dicks the last day around lunch and it was already booked for the entire evening!
We had a blast and lost a bit of $ - so Vegas is alive and well!
